The official opening of Kings Heath Floral Trail by Alys Fowler, BBC Gardeners’
World presenter, will take place at 11.30am in the Fox Hollies School garden (on the Queensbridge school site) which has recently
been designed by Winterbourne Botanic Garden.
Judges from Heart of England in Bloom are coming to the BIG Party in Kings
Heath to assess this year’s Floral Trail.
Last year the Trail achieved a Silver Award in only its first year in the
main competition.
Judges Mike Garwood and Graham Redfern have been invited to the Floral
Trail launch and will then tour the Floral Trail route.
Heart of England in Bloom is the regional part of Britain in Bloom. Only
a minority of marks the judges award are for floral enhancement. The judges will be assessing Kings Heath under 5 headings:
horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility, community participation with an emphasis on the need to demonstrate
year round activity.
The BIG Party provides a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate to the judges
what a colourful and vibrant community Kings Heath has become.
The Floral Trail is organised by the Clean and Green Committee of Kings
Heath Centre Partnership and is funded primarily from the Business Improvement District levy.
